These terms govern your use of Afterax (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the Service.
The Service
Afterax provides free, browser-based UK tax calculators. The Service is provided "as is" for general information and educational purposes. It is not financial, tax, or legal advice, and is not regulated by the FCA.
Estimates only
Calculator output is an estimatebased on the inputs you provide and the rates published by HMRC, Revenue Scotland, the Welsh Revenue Authority and other public sources. Real tax bills depend on your full circumstances and may differ from our estimates. Always consult HMRC's own guidance, your tax return, or a qualified accountant before relying on a number for a real-world decision.
No warranty
We make every reasonable effort to keep the engine accurate and up to date, but we make no guarantees about completeness, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Afterax and its contributors disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Afterax and its contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, including any decisions made on the basis of information shown.
Acceptable use
- You may use the Service for personal or commercial information purposes.
- You may share calculator URLs containing your inputs (the URL is yours).
- You may not scrape the Service in a way that disrupts availability for others.
- You may not represent the Service's output as professional tax advice.
Intellectual property
The Afterax brand, design and content are © Afterax. The underlying tax engine is open source and may be reused under its repository licence terms. UK tax rates and structures are public information published by HMRC and other government bodies and are not owned by Afterax.
Links to third parties
We link to HMRC, Revenue Scotland, the Welsh Revenue Authority and other government sources. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last reviewed" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
