Afterax is built so that nothing you type (your salary, your gain, your estate value) ever leaves your browser. The tax engine runs entirely client-side. There is no account system, no login, and no server-side store of your inputs.
What we don't collect
- We don't collect or store the values you enter into any calculator.
- We don't collect your name, email, or any account information; there are no accounts.
- We don't use third-party advertising trackers or behavioural retargeting.
What we do collect
We use Vercel Analytics for aggregated, privacy-friendly page-view statistics. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifying information. It records:
- Which page was viewed
- The referring source (e.g. Google, direct, a social link)
- The visitor's country and approximate region (derived from IP, then discarded)
- Browser and device type

Cookies
Afterax does not set cookies for tracking. The site may use small amounts of browser local storage (for example, to remember your last region or salary so you don't have to retype it). This data stays on your device. You can clear it any time using your browser's site-data tools.
Shared links
When you use the "Share link" button on a calculator, the URL contains your inputs as query parameters (e.g. ?g=101000&r=england_wales_ni). That URL is yours to share, and anyone you give it to will see the same calculation. We do not log or store these URLs server-side.
Be aware: query parameters are visible in the URL bar, browser history, theRefererheader sent to any link you click from the calculator, and any analytics or screenshot you make of the page. If you screenshot, paste, or click an outbound link from a results page, the values travel with it. For privacy-sensitive scenarios, treat the share URL like the figures themselves — copy them deliberately, not by accident.
Your rights under UK GDPR
Because we don't collect personal data tied to identifiable individuals, there is very little personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you believe we hold data about you, contact us via the project's GitHub repository and we'll respond within 30 days.
