Afterax calculations run in your browser. Values are not sent to our server during normal calculator use. If you explicitly request an emailed summary or contact Afterax, the information you submit is sent for email delivery as described below. There is no account system or login.
What we don't collect
- We don't send or store calculator values during ordinary calculator use.
- We don't create user accounts or profiles.
- We don't use third-party advertising trackers or behavioural retargeting.
What we do collect
We use PostHog in cookieless mode for aggregated page-view and interaction statistics. Session recording is disabled, and calculator values are not intentionally captured. It records:
- Which page was viewed
- The referring source (e.g. Google, direct, a social link)
- The visitor's country and approximate region (derived from IP, then discarded)
- Browser and device type

Contact and email delivery
The contact form sends the name you provide, your email address, subject, and message to the Afterax support mailbox. The "Email me" feature sends your email address, selected summary values, and calculator permalink. Both features use Resend as the email delivery provider.
Afterax does not add this information to a marketing list or a dedicated calculator database. Copies and delivery records may remain with Resend and the sending or receiving mailbox providers under their retention practices. Read Resend's privacy policy for details. You can use the Afterax contact form to request access, correction, or deletion of a support conversation where applicable.
Cookies
Afterax does not set cookies for tracking. The site may use small amounts of browser local storage (for example, to remember your last region or salary so you don't have to retype it). This data stays on your device. You can clear it any time using your browser's site-data tools.
Shared links
When you use the "Share link" button on a calculator, the URL contains your inputs as query parameters (e.g. ?g=101000&r=england_wales_ni). That URL is yours to share, and anyone you give it to will see the same calculation. We do not log or store these URLs server-side.
Be aware: query parameters are visible in the URL bar, browser history, theReferer header sent to any link you click from the calculator, and any analytics or screenshot you make of the page. If you screenshot, paste, or click an outbound link from a results page, the values travel with it. For privacy-sensitive scenarios, treat the share URL like the figures themselves. Copy them deliberately, not by accident.

If you contact Afterax or request an emailed summary, the submitted message and delivery information may be personal data. Use the contact form to ask about access, correction, or deletion rights that apply to you.
